I had Never Gonna Give You Up stuck in my head earlier this week, but sometimes after the intro it would continue as Robo's theme. They sound a lot alike at the beginning!

I guess that explains the ending in which Robo decides not to return to 2000 AD and tells Lucca, "I'm never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye, never gonna tell a lie and hurt you."

I had noticed that similarity too, although I didn't know the name of the Astley song so it was just "this sounds like that one song" for me.

The intro and solo of Angel in Exile by Strikelight sound close enough to the running scene music from Punch-Out that I think it could be an actual copy.

As soon as I find the CD that has it, I'm going to post the part of Linda Ronstadt's "You're No Good" alongside the part of the final level theme of Super R-Type that it sounds similar to.

There's this song that goes something like, "I'm your captain, this is my ship" (Okay, a Google search says it's "I'm Your Captain" by Grand Funk Railroad) that sounds so much like "Midnight Rider" by the Allman Brothers Band that I always purposefully sing, "I've got one more silver dollar!" at a certain point in it.

During the second part of the melody of Stage 1 of Journey to Silius, it's very easy to segue into Flash Man's stage from Mega Man 2.

Thorn Within (Metallica) has a part that's just like Sex Type Thing (Stone Temple Pilots)

I finally got to hear Guns n Roses' "My Michelle". It definitely sounds like Neon Tiger's theme in Mega Man X3. I don't think it could possibly be coincidence, especially considering the other GNR references in the MMX series.

I don't know of any specific songs they sound exactly like, but Giorgio Moroder's music sounds like videogame music. Both the Ivory Tower theme from Neverending Story and Danger Zone (particularly the guitar riffing) sound like they could've come from a videogame, particularly something in the 16-bit era.
